Skin that is not perfectly flat around the stoma leaves small gaps under the skin barrier, and this is often where fluids seep in. This flexible protective ring is placed directly around the stoma, under the skin barrier, to fill these spaces and add a watertight layer between the skin and the pouch. Its composition does not contain pectin.
