Raw or weeping skin around the stoma prevents the adhesive from sticking properly, and the pouch detaches more quickly. Stomahesive powder is applied directly to these moist areas and forms a thin protective layer on which the barrier regains its adherence.

Stomahesive protective powder is used when the skin around the stoma is raw or moist, where adhesive alone no longer holds. It absorbs moisture and leaves a dry surface for the next pouch to be applied. A small amount is sufficient; excess powder should be removed before applying the wafer.
